This year Easter brought colds for three out of four of us. Not wanting to spread the fun, we stayed home from church and had our own mini service complete with reading the story of The Resurrection, and a lengthy discussion followed. My daughter, who is very scientifically minded, had question after question about God, and Jesus, and rising from the dead, etc. Even though her millions of questions drive me crazy sometimes, I appreciate her curiosity and desire to understand things. My son? Well, he pretty much sat there looking bored, but then, he is only four.
We hard boiled some eggs but didn't dye them due to fatigue, so finding white eggs wasn't too much of a challenge for the kids. We also decided that it was the best chance of getting in some family shots. In spite of the runny noses, dry coughs, and aching heads we got dressed up in our Easter Best and drove around in search of the perfect photo spots.
The entrance to a nearby golf course provided beautiful pink blooms, brick walls and sweeping views of the green. The traffic was a bit unnerving as passersby would crane their necks to watch us take pictures, but fortunately we got some good shots.
As it started to rain, and the gawking was making us uncomfortable, we searched the town for some nice spring colors. We hoped for some pink blossoms, and came upon a park in the middle of downtown. An island of landscaping gave us a nice place to crouch down while bushes framed us.
I'm glad we had this outing even if I was exhausted. It had been a while since we took some family photos. My son and his daddy matched, and I even wore pink!
Photography thoughts: I had to get creative with the editing on these because of the dark look to the images. It was a cloudy day complete with rain, so balancing the contrast and colors was tricky. Also my husband - who set up the camera - likes to use the 18-70mm kit lens, and I prefer one that gives more depth to the photo like a 60mm. I'm currently looking at getting a 35mm Prime lens that will give great depth of field, but I won't have to stand so far away to frame the shot. The overall look is rather artsy and contrasty, which made me step out of my comfort zone.
So now I'm curious, what is your favorite lens?

These are great photos! I hope you're all feeling better now; I've found that often the Sundays that we end up spending at home resting are some of the most special.
As for my favorite lens, right now I'm loving my 50mm fixed.
Very spiffy looking people!
Ooh, I have a 50mm too and it's my favorite! I just love the bokeh effect on that particular lens.
