A Walk in the Park

This morning my daughter begged me to take her to the park. We have a little playground at the end of our street and when I looked outside I realized that it was a gorgeous day. We all needed a little sunshine, fresh air, and exercise so I grabbed my camera and we were off.

My daughter had a great time sliding and climbing while my son sat in the sawdust and got dirty. And even though it wasn't rainy out, I brought along my kids' rain boots because they are so fun and I wanted to photograph them. Here are some shots from our time at the park:

I had fun playing with lighting, perspective and environment. As you can see it was in the upper 40s, there is still a lot of snow on the ground, and the skies were clear and blue.

I had mentioned before that my son has low muscle tone and at the age of 22 months he still isn't walking or standing on his own. Well, he has made tremendous progress and I can tell that he desires to walk. At the park I took along his walker so he could practice and boy did he practice! He was quite insistent that he walk up and down the sidewalk. I think he realizes the independence he'll gain from being able to move by himself!

What a little rascal! With that mischievous grin, the faux-hawk and his kick-butt attitude, I just know he'll be out running me soon!

Precious little ones! Glad you were able to enjoy the sunshine. We have had a bit of rain yesterday and clouds today-what is going on? I thought we left that behind!

Low muscle tone, fortunately, is not due to injury or pain. Some people are born with high muscle tone and they walk at an earlier age. Low muscle tone means it takes the message from my son's brain to reach his muscles a few tries before he can move. He is greatly improving and I know he will be walking very soon. In the future he will probably just have to warm up more than other kids before doing any athletic activity.

It has definitely been an interesting process when working with him on his walking. He really IS a trooper!
