Spa Sunday

Sunday evenings are my favorite.  With a busy week to follow, Sunday evenings are the perfect time to reflect, rejuvenate and restore my body and mind before tackling the tasks ahead.  I usually start with a leisurely bath, complete with bath oil and Epsom salts; and end up feeling clean, relaxed and moisturized. I love to try new products, but usually stick to my standbys:

1. Lavender Epsom Salts by Dr. Teals

The lavender scent is heavenly in these salts, and really does help me to relax.  They come in a large pouch with a scoop and last a long time.

2. Bio Oil

This oil can be used for so many things!  It can be applied directly to skin to improve the look of a scar or stretch mark, or added to a bath.  I personally love it as a bath oil, and because I have dry skin it moisturizes and softens dry patches.  I even apply it to my face after a moisturizing mask to even out skin tone and give me a lovely glow.

3.  Soothing Relief Moisture Cream by Aveeno Baby

Having suffered from eczema for many years now, this is the ONLY lotion that helps.  It is very thick and odorless, and leaves my skin feeling soft for the entire day.  I use it on my kids too, who seem to be eczema prone.

4.  Oat Milk Detoxifying Mask by Zia

Best. stuff. ever!  It can be quite costly, but its effectiveness makes it worth it.  It's a bit slimy and cold, but goes on clear.  Sometimes if my skin is especially dry it will sting slightly after I put it on, which tells me that I really needed to be detoxified.  I leave it on for 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water, and then I'm amazed at how smooth my face feels.

5.  Hydrogen Peroxide

Are you tired of spending way too much on dental whitening strips?  I was too and then I heard about this effective and dirt cheap method:  (I use a medicine dosage cup) mix 1 tsp water and 1 tsp hydrogen peroxide together, pour into your mouth and swish for 30-60 seconds, make sure you DO NOT SWALLOW any peroxide!  Spit out the solution, and brush with favorite toothpaste.  It doesn't taste that great and it effervesces, but it does gradually whiten teeth while killing germs.  Simple as that!

6. Beeswax Lip Balm by Burt's Bees

As the weather has been changing to a cold and dry climate, a good lip balm is a must!  I like Burt's Bees because it is easy to find, does a great job of keeping my lips from chapping, and I like the cooling effect it has.  You might think I'm crazy, but I even dab a little into the corners of my nose because they get so dry, and this balm protects my skin from the elements quite nicely.

With the help of these products (and my husband who keeps the kids busy while I have my "Spa Sunday") I go to bed feeling relaxed and calm.  And if I have time, I'll watch a chick flick and have hot cup of tea as part of my ritual.  I'm already looking forward to next Sunday ...
